How much pain have cost us the evils which have never happened.
What do we do with anxiety?
We all know what anxiety does to us. The catastrophic and worst case scenario thinking that some of us do on a regular basis is the equivalent of mind f***ing yourself. And in my past I have let other people do that to me so I don’t know why I am doing it to myself too.
Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
Why do we do it:
I decided to read one of my old stories.
I was shocked to see that the small publication that had asked me to publish with them had embedded one of their stories in mine. And it didn’t even fit within the context of the story.
Kind of burned me.
Has this happened to anyone else? It seems like a sideways way to get people to read their story. Definitely not on the level. A bit unethical?
I won’t say the name of the publication, and I have edited the story, removing the embed. I won’t be publishing with them again…
I do not think many people realize that when they do something for a child, this event might stick with the child for life and make a life-long impression on the child. This holds for adults too, for what you might do for another person.
I love this story. And this highlighted part is so true! I recently came across a Christmas card that one of my son's old girlfriends had given my hubby and I several years ago. She thanked me for all of the times I fed her! It was a nice reminder of her, and of how much I enjoyed making meals for my kid's friends. I hope that I somehow made a difference in their lives.
Thanks for the entertaining story!
Emotional Vampires. Toxic people. Energy vampires. These are people who intentionally drain your emotional energy. Narcissists.
They may have sucked the lifeblood out of you at one time, but you can learn from the experience. Better late than never.
In case you haven’t heard of energy vampires here’s what to watch for — in a nutshell:
Could you do it?
Play hockey in an outdoor rink when it’s minus 47 Celsius outside?
Play in alternating 5 hour shifts for 10 days? A continuous game played for 252 hours.
This isn’t just about combatting depression. This is about an individual, and a community being hypervigilant for the benefit of the community. In reality as a community, and as a country we are only as strong as our most vulnerable individuals.
The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived.
Robert Jordan, from ‘The Fires of Heaven’
Are you feeling like the oak, or the willow lately?
The mental health challenges of this past year have been unsurmountable. Suicide prevention must be a priority. …
My husband has Seasonal Affective Disorder. I’m beginning to wonder if his symptoms of bloating, gas and cramping that start in November are a symptom of the depression that is part of SAD. Some years he has more mental health symptoms and some years he has stomach issues.
This is a mystery for sure.
He started having Seasonal Affective Disorder about 6 years ago- coinciding with the year that his father passed away.
Signs and Symptoms of SAD from mayoclinic.com are:
- Feeling depressed most of the day, nearly every day
- Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed
How people pleasing pleases everyone but the most important person — yourself.
Are you a people pleaser?
I know. You are thinking ‘How can being a good person or a people pleaser be a bad thing?’ From experience I can tell you that it most certainly can be a bad thing when it is done for the wrong reasons.
If you answered yes to this question then this is for you. I want to help you to awaken yourself to the goodness that you are just because you are you!
I have always prided myself on being a ‘good person’…
In our local paper they have been running a series of stories called ‘Words to Live by’ on and off through the years. Local ‘celebrities’ are interviewed, and the final question is of course ‘What are your words to live by?’. The people aren’t really celebrities, but to the people in their community who know them they are to be celebrated for their achievements and what they give back to the community.
Years ago I started to cut out some of the gems that I liked out of the newspaper, sticking the little bits of paper on my fridge in…
I wish you could.
I would like to go back to how it was before I was awakened.
That sounds crazy- I know.
You’d have to ‘have been there’ to get it. It was a hard, demoralizing, suffocating, unhealthy place.
The awakening happened at the worst time- for the abusers. My parents. I thought it was just my mother at first but now I realize it has been both of my parents.
